July update – we’re getting on blooming brilliantly!

We hope you’re enjoying the amazing weather we’re having at the moment. It’s certainly helped us a lot in terms of our external renovations, so long may it continue!   We’d like to thank all the new investors who have come on board over the last month, helping us move ever closer to our final target – £1.25m – that will enable us to carry out all the required refurbishments to make Enterprising Limpsfield @ The Bull the best it can be!

Here is what’s been going on over the last few weeks and what’s planned for the next month or two, as we enter the exciting refurbishment phase ahead of launch in the autumn.

Investment update – £85K to go!

Our latest investment close took place on Monday (2 July), and we now only have £85k of EIS investment shares left to achieve our stretch target and final close. Shares are available on a first come, first served basis. Simply email us on info@enterprisinglimpsfield.com

Design

Our design team, Design Twenty-Five, has been working hard to finalise the décor plans, together with Lisa Lloyd from the BBC Antiques Roadshow. Lisa has in fact been scouring antique dealers and auction houses to find suitable bargains that will ensure a unique independent feel. It’s been fascinating to see how antiques and vintage items can actually be more cost-effective and robust than modern alternatives!  They don’t make ‘em like they used to!!!  Keep an eye on the blog for an interview with Lisa in due course.

Building works

For those of you who are local, you may well have noticed that all the external wood preparation and filling/repair has been completed during the fine weather. We are now testing out the colour samples that have already been given the thumbs up by the Heritage Buildings Officer, Martin Higgins.

Many of the interior fit out items that need long lead times, such as joinery, bar top and kitchen equipment are going to be ordered in the coming weeks and we are expecting to start the refit at the end of the month in line with our autumn launch date.

Limpsfield in Bloom at The Bull

Although the building is not looking at its best right now, we have been working with one of our local entrepreneurs, talented floral designer, Dora Kovacs to do our bit to enhance the frontage for Limpsfield in Bloom. Judging took place on Thursday 5th July, so we hope we didn’t let the side down!

We’re hoping in future years to become more involved and want to say how much we appreciate all the hard work by the dedicated Limpsfield in Bloom volunteers, who have done an amazing job – theming the displays to celebrate 100 years of suffrage.

Recruitment

We have started to create job descriptions and HR staff packs ahead of our recruitment process and will be contacting all those who have already shown interest and formalising the selection process over the next couple of months. Again, please do feel free to let us know if you are interested in any role and we are keen to talk to ambitious creative chefs and front of house ambassadors.

Events

We have started to engage with event experts to plan a calendar of events that will commence from our launch and we will share more information with you once our plans have been finalised and we have our bookings system up and running. In addition, we have had some great suggestions and approaches from community organisations who wish to get involved. Keep those suggestions coming!

Focus Groups

We have had a number of meetings with independent cellar experts and are starting to engage with local breweries, wine and spirit/cocktail experts and suppliers. However, we are still at the early stages of this process and a number of investors are getting involved in selecting the best possible assortment of beverages – ensuring that there will be a full range of affordability at the highest possible quality.

PR, social media, website and communications

If you’re not already following us on Facebook, Twitter and our website, it’s good to take a look as there are regular updates and we would encourage you to share these with your friends as appropriate. We will be creating a new operationally-focused website over the summer to showcase the new business. This will of course include bookings and events. We expect this to go live in the late summer, so that we can start the booking process well ahead of the launch.

Have a great summer and do please look out for our next update!
